Course Selection

Course selection grade presentations have been completed. Students should now be researching pathways and ensuring their choices will meet any requirements for those choices.

Attached are the handouts students received plus a list of the courses being offered. Detailed information on courses can be found - https://app.myblueprint.ca/public/courses/alcdsb/nicholson1

Extra copies are available on the Guidance D2L site in the Course Selection area

There is a possibility that not all offered courses will be able to run. The final determination on the availability of a course will be based on student interest. Students are encouraged to choose appropriately.

Each student received a personalized summary of their progress to date on the back of their course selection sheet. This was reviewed with students and should be used to help guide the selection of the appropriate courses for next year.

Specialist High Skills Major

What is SHSM?
The SHSM program is a ministry-approved program that allows grade 11 and 12 students to focus their learning on a specific economic sector while meeting the requirements to graduate from high school. A SHSM program gives students the opportunity to specialize their learning, gain qualifications, and explore a career pathway while still in high school.
Who is SHSM for?
SHSM is for students who want real world experience, a better sense of the type of work they want to do, and an understanding of where a career in their chosen sector can take them. It helps students transition after graduation to their next step, whether that be apprenticeship, college, university, or workplace training.

NOTE - The ICT program at NCC is currently under review.
